Hi, I'm Steve Allman
For 30 years, I've worked at every level of the sector from volunteer through to CEO, Chair and Trustee and, since 2012, supported charities as a consultant. I completed my coaching certification in 2020 and have since coached over 100 people in charity roles for over 1000 hours, including CEOs, Chairs, Directors, Managers and others working hard to make a positive impact.

My approach is a blend of coaching and mentoring, with ongoing support to tackle challenges as they arise and help you keep moving towards your goals as things change. It’s not generic coaching, it's specialist coaching and mentoring for charity leaders who want space to pause, reflect and plan their next move.
Most clients get the best results when we work together on a long-term basis. We tend to start with fortnightly sessions to build momentum, then move to a sustainable rhythm, typically every 3-4 weeks.
Coaching packages include email support between sessions, automated rescheduling, monthly payment plans (for self-funders), and the option to cancel at any time and have any outstanding sessions refunded.

A short taster package to get you started on those immediate goals or challenges and help you get clear on your goals and next steps.

Which package is right for me?
It's hard to say without knowing your specific goals or challenges, but I always recommend starting with fortnightly coaching for 12 weeks so we can make an early impact and build momentum, then move to monthly sessions for long-term support.
This isn't traditional coaching, it's a unique blend of coaching, mentoring and consulting designed to support charity leaders on an ongoing basis, and we flex to meet your changing needs and priorities, which is why most clients think long-term.
What if things change?
This isn't a rigid programme and you're free to stop at any time. It's not unusual for clients to get promoted, change jobs or experience big life changes during our time together and we can work around your needs and find a rhythm that works.
How do I know it's a good investment?
I get it. Charity budgets are tight and every penny you spend needs to be worth it. This isn't typical coaching, this is ongoing charity leadership support. Clients say working with me adds value, both to their role and their charity by enabling you to make good decisions, lead well, avoid burnout, improve board and team dynamics and tackle tough situations as tey arise. If things change and you need to prioritise spend elsewhere, I offer a no-fuss "any time" refund.
Tell me about this "any time" refund promise.
It's simple. If you book a coaching package then decide to cancel for any reason, I'll refund any outstanding sessions without any fuss. I get that things change in charities, so this way you can go ahead and book without any risk.
Who usually pays for coaching?
In most cases, my clients employers pay for coaching as part of their ongoing support and professional development. I strongly encourage potential clients to explore that option before considering self-funding. In some cases, clients self-fund, typically if you're a founder/CEO or self-employed.
What if we don't "click"?
I've coached over 100 charity folk with a wide range of needs, experiences and personalities. My approach is very practical and down to earth, some say informal, some even say humorous! I usually know by the end of our first session if we've "clicked", but if you don't think so then you're free to cancel at any time and we'll part ways. From memory, this has only happened twice, so my "click sense" must be around 98% accurate!
What happens during an intro call?
The Intro Call is a short, informal chat to check out our vibe and see if you'd enjoy working with me. We'll talk about your goals or challenges and make sure I can help. If you're ready to go ahead, we can book your first proper session, or you can take more time to think. You won't be under any pressure to decide during the call, that's just not my style.
What if I can't make a session?
No problem. Sessions are free to rescedule with more than 24 hours notice. You can either contact me by email or use my automated booking system.
Tell me about your coaching credentials
I worked in the charity sector for 25 years before gaining coaching certification in 2020, which is why my approach blends coaching tools with real-world experience.
I've undertaken 60 hours of training with the Centre for Coaching in London and hold British Psychological Society approved certificates in Coaching, Stress Management, Performance Coaching, Problem-Focussed Coaching and Psychological Coaching.
I'm a member of the Association for Coaching and, since 2020, I've coached over 100 charity folk for over 1000 hours.
